2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6

Background story...

The thumb above is from the day I traded in the 99 and picked up the 02. The stock rims were gone before I left the dealership... :)

OK, down below here, you'll see the story of how I ended up buying this car when it was brand new. In early 2006 though, I sold this car. It was no longer practical as a daily driver, and I was looking to save a little money...so...I sold her and bought a sedan. Early in 2007, I bought an old Toyota pickup from my sister. It used to belong to my Dad, before he passed away. I spent some time fixing it up, and started using it as my daily driver...so I sold the sedan. I lasted almost 2 months with no car payments, until the guy that bought my TA posted on an internet forum that he had traded the car in. With very little hesitation, the wife and I packed up the family and headed up to the dealer. I bought the car back the next day. On the one hand, it's wierd having her back...but on the other, it's obvious that she belongs parked in my garage. :)

Anyway, back to the beginning. It all started with one of those annoying flyers from the dealership, you know, "Dear Mr. _________, you have been approved for a new car loan of up to _____ dollars!!!!" I didn't really consider it, but I did notice that the interest rate was quite nice, and decided to look into refinancing the 99. I remember commenting to my wife, that if we just bought a new car, the finance rates were so low now that our monthly payments would go down. Her response was: "Well, why don't you see about getting a 2002 since that's the last model year?" Without hesitation, I began researching prices and making phone calls.

I had two options basically: 1. buy a Pewter Trans Am, and move over the custom hood from the '99. Or, 2. buy a Sunset Orange Metallic WS6 and sell the custom hood with the old car. The Sunset Orange color is just sweeeeeeet, and you don't see many of them on the road. After making some phone calls, I found out that the dealerships around central Texas didn't have *any* non-WS6 Pewter Trans Ams coming to them. None of the Austin dealers had Sunset Orange either...so, I made a call to Saadallah El-Jundi up at Sewell Pontiac in Dallas, and we made a verbal agreement (purchase price and approximate trade in price) that the local dealers couldn't touch. He had a matching car on his lot, but we had to move fast to keep it from selling to someone else... When we drove up there that weekend, Saadallah was true to his word, and we signed the papers within *minutes* of walking into the dealership.

We drove home that night in a brand-spanking-new 2002 Sunset Orange Metallic Trans Am, with the WS6 "Ram Air" Performance Package.
